So I'm not sure where your staff stands on this. But the aloken guard should have more defense between +0 and +9.
A +0 Guard has 143 defence, a +9 guard has 283 Defence, definitely needs to be MUCH higher than that.
Also, increasing spell mastery does nothing, nothing noticable atleast. Maybe set it to increase resistances.

I agree they are strong, but the difference between +0 and +9 is no difference at all. might aswell leave the gaurd at +0 instead of wasting the argates to get +9

+8 - +9 only gives you like an extra 20 def, it's really quite pointless but if you have 5 items +9 it's like an extra 100 def

At least it's very hard to success +8 - +9. I think more def would be fair. my opinion
